NELHA 55″ Cold Water Pipeline

The scope of this project includes fabrication and deployment of 55″dia. x 9,000′ HDPE coldwater intake pipeline from 85′ to 3,000′ of water and 55″ dia. x 40′ HDPE warm water intake pipeline in 85′ of water including underwater tie-ins to existing microtunneled pipe; installation of underwater drilled and grouted anchors and pipeline tie-down hardware in 85′ to 120′ waterdepths; drilling, blasting, and excavating in rock for 30′ deep pump sump; fabrication and precision installation offiberglass pump structures in sump; installation of steel sheet pile shoring; backfilling; and installation of concrete slab. The project was awarded the American Society of Civil Engineers – 2002 Hawaii Section Outstanding Civil Engineering Achievement Award; and was one of six merit finalists for the 2003 Outstanding Civil Engineering Achievement competition.
