Healy Tibbitts Builders, Inc.’s Iroquois Point Beach Nourishment and Stabilization Project successfully restored and stabilized the severely eroded beach shoreline area adjacent to the Iroquois Point housing complex. The 4,000-footlong shoreline had been chronically eroding for over 50 years, receding 300 feet at the west end, with a resultant loss of 16 shoreline homes in the past 20 years and exposing additional homes to further damage or loss. The project included: removing debris and hazards from the eroded shoreline; constructing 9 new stone groins; and dredging, stockpiling, hauling and placing 100,000 cubic yards of beach sand.
This project was awarded the GCA of Hawaii's 2014 Build Hawaii Awards of Excellence.
