The scope of this project includes fabrication and deployment of 55"dia. x 9,000' HDPE coldwater intake pipeline from 85' to 3,000' of water and 55" dia. x 40' HDPE warm water intake pipeline in 85' of water including underwater tie-ins to existing microtunneled pipe; installation of underwater drilled and grouted anchors and pipeline tie-down hardware in 85' to 120' waterdepths; drilling, blasting, and excavating in rock for 30' deep pump sump; fabrication and precision installation offiberglass pump structures in sump; installation of steel sheet pile shoring; backfilling; and installation of concrete slab. The project was awarded the American Society of Civil Engineers - 2002 Hawaii Section Outstanding Civil Engineering Achievement Award; and was one of six merit finalists for the 2003 Outstanding Civil Engineering Achievement competition.
